The Aegean Islands are the group of islands in the Aegean Sea, with mainland Greece to the west and north and Turkey to the east; the island of Crete delimits the sea to the south, those of Rhodes, Karpathos and Kasos to the southeast.
Thassos is part of the North-Eastern Aegean Islands and it is located in the most northern part of the group. It used to be called the “Emerald of the Aegean” because of its thick forests. Samos is the most visited island of the North-Eastern Aegean but keeps its beauty and attractiveness. The island is particularly green, with verdant mountains. Lesvos, also known as Mytilini, is a splendid island of great natural and unspoiled beauty famous for its production of ouzo. Lemnos is part of the eastern Aegean Greece islands and is a picturesque and unspoiled place which offers many beautiful natural sites. Ikaria is the mythological land of Ikaros and is an astonishing place that has not yet been spoiled by tourism. Chios is part of the Eastern Aegean Greece and is a big island, close to Asia Minor. It is a beautiful place with wild nature, long sandy and pebble beaches, crystalline waters, wonderful medieval villages and a superb capital where the visitor can admire many Byzantine churches and houses that are kept in very good condition.
