Italy, Mountains Resorts

There are two major mountain ranges in Italy, the Alps and the Apennines. The Alps run west to east across Northern Italy and share borders with France, Switzerland and Austria. The Apennine Mountains run 1000km north to south along Italy’s eastern coast.

Residence Artuik

This resort is located in the popular purpose-built skiing area of Marilleva (1400mt). A ski lift starting from just outside Marilleva 1400 leads into an inter-linking system covering, with neighbouring Folgarida and Madonna di Campiglio, some 150km of ski runs. There is cross-country skiing at Marilleva 900 and summer skiing at Passo Tonale. Residence Artuik has a bar and restaurant and at Marilleva 1400 there is a mini- club, shops, disco and sauna. Residence Borgo al Sole

Sappada , Italy

This resort is located in the lap of the Italian Dolomites in the picturesque village of Sappada (at an altitude of about 4,000 feet), 50 minutes away from the internationally famous ski center of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The resort offers fabulous mountain views, and within the village itself, there are numerous old-style chalets to admire. In summer, the resort offers miniature golf and a children's playground. Other facilities include a gym and sauna.

Residence Camporosso II

Close to the Slovenian and Austrian borders in Friuli Alpi Carniche region, this is both a summer and winter resort (800m). Tarvisio offers a selection of shops, bars and restaurants and there are many excursions in the area. In winter it is possible to ski up to 1400m and also in Austria and Kranjsca Gora (World Cup skiing area - 20km). Trips can be organised to towns such as Villach, Klagenfurt and Bled. The accommodation is in large chalet-style buildings. The facilities include a bar and restaurant, gymnasium and a mini-club for children from five to 12 years of age.

Residence Cervinia 1

Breuil-Cervinia, Italy

Residence Cervinia 1 (2002mt) is in the complex known as La Grand'Ourse, facing the famous Matterhorn. The village is 1.5km away where there are many bars, shops and restaurants where you can try the local Aosta Valley specialities. This is a paradise for skiers with up to 300km of winter pistes and summer skiing on the Plateau Rosa. Summer visitors can enjoy a round of golf on a 9-hole course or walking on marked trails. Residence Cervinia 2

Breuil-Cervinia, Italy

This residence (2100mt) is situated above the main village of Cervina (2050mt) right underneath the Matterhorn. Skiing in Cervinia is a year-round activity with summer skiing on the Plateau Rosa on the Swiss side. On-site amenities include sauna, whirlpool, gymnasium. A bar and restaurant are 100 metres away. Nearby there is also a disco, bowling alley, covered swimming pool and 9-hole golf course and the Casino of St Vincent is half an hour away by car. www.cervinia.it

Residence Golfhotel

Vigo di Fassa, Italy

Situated on Passo Costalunga (1800m) and originally built at the end of the 19th century, this resort has been completely restructured with modern, comfortable apartments. On-site facilities include bar, restaurant, sauna, gym and games room. The resort is well positioned for winter sports with plenty of skiing in the area (good skiing areas such as Vigo 8km and Canazei 10km). In summer you can walk or ride through the mountains and woods or play a round of golf on a 9-hole course at Carezza, just a few minutes away.

Grand Hotel Carezza (1630m) is located 1km from the romantic lake Carezza. The Hotel's grand opening was held in 1896. During its first year the Austro- Hungarian Empress Elisabeth was one of their V.I.P. guests. The resort boasts other famous names such as Agatha Cristie and Winston Churchill.In winter skiing can be found at 300m, the Dolomiti Super Ski Pass can be reached in 15 minutes by car. Summer activities include mountain walks including the famous Sissi Promenade, horse-riding and a 9-hole golf course which are all a short distance away from the hotel.

Hotel Piz da Lec

Corvara in Badia, Italy

Corvara and Residence Piz Da Lec (1568m) is part of Dolomites Superski area, where one ski pass covers more than 100kms of ski slopes. The ski season starts at the beginning of December and around the 15th December there is often a round of the World Cup held here. The village is full of shops, hotels and bars. There are plenty of activities - during the winter there is snowboarding, ice skating, paraclimbing and during the summer walking and rock climbing. There is summer skiing available at Marmolada Glacier (60km).

Residence Laurin

Nova Levante, Italy

A resort with a longer summer season than many others in the country, Residence Laurin (1629m) is ideal for lovers of winter sports. The resort has 35 chalet style units situated in spectacular mountain scenery. Located at Carezza in the Italian Dolomites. There is a small market place nearby. In winter high standard ski runs are nearby. More advanced ski runs can be reached by car (Dolomiti super ski area). Summer activities include mountain walks (the Sissi promenade), horse-riding and a 9-hole golf course a short distance away.

Residence Rio Falze

Madonna di Campiglio, Italy

In the beautiful Brenta Dolomites is the Residence Rio Falze (1610m) on the outskirts of Madonna di Campiglio on the world cup ski circuit. The 32 lifts, serving 145km of ski routes and cross-country trails, make it an ideal choice for winter sports enthusiasts. In summer the area is a wonderland for walkers (Genova Valley). The resort nestles among pine trees, with a golf course nearby and many other amenities. In Torrent Noce you can go kayaking and rafting and hydrospeed at Dimaro Canoa Club. Summer skiing at Tonale Glacier is one hour away by car.
